Karachi: The month of blessings is near to end and we are going to celebrate the joyful day that is “Eid-ul-Fitr”. So on this occasion, pensioners are still waiting for their pension in May 2023. That is why EOBI Pensioners Welfare Association (EPWA) decided to make a demand to the government of Pakistan to release the EOBI pensions before Eid day. There is a big wave of inflation in the country and poor people are living a life with very hard situations. That is the reason, the government urged to increase EOBI pensions from Rs. 8500 to Rs. 15000. But the government of Pakistan is still thinking about this and they are not taking any steps. However, as per the rule and act of the EOBI Act 1976, the government must increase the pensions after every three years.
Eid is a day of celebration and without money, no one can enjoy and celebrate on this day. Especially those who are old and do not have any other sport to live their lives and fulfill their needs are striving for money. The amount of pension is very small and it is literally not possible for any person to live a comfortable life with a small amount of pension.
We can not say anything about whether the government of Pakistan will issue pensions for May 2023 before Eid and whether they will only release the payments after then eid and at the usual time.
